If I buy my carpet or vinyl at a carpet store can you still install it?
Yes. It is actually less expensive to cash & carry your carpet and contact a reputable installer to install the carpet. AFC can pick your carpet up on the day of installation from any store without charge.

Can you install carpet and vinyl on the same day?
Yes, when you request the estimate, please indicate your needs to AFC we will be glad to take care of it.

Do I need to purchase the carpet in advance?
No. AFC can come and measure your room and let you know what the measurements are so that you can purchase exactly what you need.

Can a person do their own measurements?
Its best to have your room measured by a professional, you have to take into consideration, doorways, closets and the width of the carpet off of the roll.

What are some ways to save money on a carpet or vinyl project?
Stores such as Dean's Carpet sell remanants that may be close to the size of your room. You can also purchase from a warehouse such as Packs Salvage. Shop around, ask lots of questions and get the best carpet for you.

If you replace carpet, do you have to replace the pad as well?
It is best to replace the pad if you have had your pad longer than 3 years, it harbors odors that can affect your new carpet and it disentigrates over time.

How often should you replace your carpet?
As often as you like, but generally 5-7 years for high traffic rooms and longer for low traffic areas.

What are the steps to getting new carpet?

Contact a professional Installer such as AFC to measure your room

Take your measurements to the carpet store or warehouse

After purchasing your carpet, contact AFC to schedule a date of installation

AFC will pick up your carpet and deliver to your home or office for installation

AFC will move your furniture (if necessary), take up old carpet, install new carpet and dispose of old carpet.

Does is costs to move furniture?
Yes, it is a small fee, the charge depends upon how much furniture is in the room

How long does it take to install carpet in a living room?
It depends on the type of carpet and the room size

How much does installation cost?
It is cost per yard and also based upon the type of carpet or vinyl and whether new pad is required.

Can you install carpet on our patio beside the pool?
Yes, we install indoor/outdoor carpet for patios & porches

What if there is a small hole in the floor?
Floor Prep work is required, you may fix it yourself or have AFC to repair it for you prior to installation.

Can you do an entire house in one day?
Yes, depending upon the size of the home, AFC can usually install carpet and vinyl throughout the house in a single day.

Sometimes, the cost is differnt than the estimate, are there hidden costs?
If you have a professional Installer measure your room, and you purchase enough carpet, he should be able to tell you how much it costs
* If you dont purchase enough carpet, there may be piece work involved that require a lot of seams, which will cost extra also stairs and floor prep work, tack strip replacement and new doorway metal are additional costs as well.

Does AFC have a billing process?
Not unless it is a commerical account that is pre-approved, otherwise all work is paid upon completion. We accept cash, money orders or checks. Checks shouldb be made out to James Avery.

Does AFC provide reciepts?
Yes.

Do you install outside of Fort Smith?
Yes, but anything 5 miles outside of Fort Smith, will have a trip surcharge depending upon the mileage.

I had my carpet replaced 3 years ago, but it has wrinkles, what should I do?
Over time, carpet can become relaxed with traffic, AFC can re-stretch your carpet for an affordable rate.

Do you install commerical carpet?
Yes as well as commercial flooring such as VCT.

Are residential and commercial rates the same?
No, they both require different processes and you are using different materials. Call for an estimate today.

Can you give estimates over the phone?
No, there is a lot to consider when measuring a room, such as entry points, metal, tack strip replacement, direction of carpet, seams, floor prep, take up, new pad, type of carpet, or vinyl, closets, stairs amd seams. AFC will not do any work not authorized by the client.

Do you sell carpet?
No, but we can bind custom rugs for your living area, dining area, hallways etc. It is especially good on areas with vinyl and hardwood floors that you want to protect.
